Writing this fashion blog has been the highlight of my career, and never in a million years did I think I would reach so many people on this little slice of the Internet. A couple of months ago, I wandered in to a charming café in the Marais district of Paris, only to have someone say “You’re Susie, I follow you on Instagram.” Wow! Then the following day, while waiting in the longest line ever at the Goyard store, a sweet mom and daughter lined up behind me and my bestie and said “Are you Susie? I read your blog!” I still can’t believe it. This is my life’s work and my happy place, and I’m so grateful for you all 🤍
The purpose of So Susie has always been to share dressing room experiences that help you get dressed for everyday life. Whether it’s for a special night out, a luncheon, or just everyday running around, I love showing you things that I believe will help you put together amazing wardrobes. I’ve had lots of practice in my own closet, and know what matters when it comes to getting dressed. For example, having a go-to black dress, the right shapewear, or the cutest travel outfit on hand makes a big difference. Keep reading to see 9 things guaranteed to make your fashion life easier. #1 Have your travel outfit dialed in!

Investing in a few key pieces makes it easy to look stylish and put together while traveling. Last fall, I alternated between this trench coat and this Mango wrap coat. Here are a few essentials that will up your travel game.
Cashmere wraps and hoodies: I love this black scarf and take mine on every trip. When it’s cold or I want a change, I switch it out for this cashmere wrap. Once the weather cools down, transition to cashmere hoodies, like this one by Nadam or this one from Bloomingdale’s.
Slightly oversized coats: This new J.Crew trench is a good one, along with this Amazon one and this Mango wrap coat

Pretty much any day of the week, when I’m hoping to see no one 😂 you’ll find me in jeans, sneakers and a hoodie with some kind of jacket. It’s comfortable, practical, and it’s what I gravitate towards on casual days!
Jeans: These slim straight leg jeans are perfect for sneakers

#3 The right undergarments make a big difference
We all have full lingerie drawers, but after being in A LOT of closets over the years, I have noticed many of us are missing a few essentials. Here are the basics everyone should own.
Bras: Everyone should have a strapless bra! The Wacoal Red Carpet and this Natori one are best-sellers, and you’ll be covered when you need one. A convertible bra is another necessity for some tops or dresses.
Panties: I also highly recommend these tummy control/lace panties for under dresses. They’re pretty and provide a little smoothing. The Chantelle Soft Stretch panties are also amazing and incredibly comfy (this and this are my favorites). I wear the Natori Bliss thongs under jeans — also comfy and doesn’t show any lines.
Shapewear: This one by Spanx is the one I wear most often, and it works with almost everything. Occasionally, we all need a little extra, and this TC one is great. For a lighter weight option, this Wacoal Body Base style is a favorite. I promise you’ll love any of these items!

Having a quick and easy everyday beauty routine is a must! Here’s mine — it takes me ten minutes 🙂
Skincare: Elemis Pro-Marine Cream SPF 30, Kiehls Eye-Zone Treatment
Makeup prep: Luminous Silk foundation, Supergroup! Glo-Screen, Cle de Peau concealer, Flawless Finish Powder
Eyes/brows: A brow pencil like this Anastasia one is quick and easy to apply, same with these Bobbi Brown eyeshadow sticks (faves include Truffle and Dusty Mauve). For mascara that makes an impact, you can’t go wrong with Chanel Le Volume, and if you’re up for an extra step, tight-lining with this Bobbi Brown liner also makes a big difference.
Blush/bronzer: For an easy-to-apply blush, try this one by Westman Atelier in the color petal. It’s their best seller and I use this brush to blend.
Lips: Charlotte Tilbury lipstick (Kidman’s Kiss) and liner (Pink Venus) and Chanel gloss are everyday favorites

A great black dress (and possibly another) that are ready to go is another way to make your fashion life easier, guaranteed. A black dress will cover you for most special events that pop up. I plan on wearing a black dress to the Wine Event next week, because the one I ordered didn’t work out. And this had me scrambling this week, because the other ALC Renzo dress I talk about all the time wasn’t altered! So learn from me, and be prepared.
#7 A fully-stocked toiletry bag

Last year, I decided to fully stock my toiletry bag, and let me tell you it has been life changing. It needs a re-visit, since I recently replenished my beauty drawer. My favorite Giorgio Armani Foundation comes in a travel size, and so does the Colleen Rothschild Cleansing Balm, as well as my favorite perfume! Trust me on this one — it’s a game changer.
#8 Cool sneakers

Not only are sneakers super stylish, they’re also really practical. This time of year, they’re perfect for when the weather shifts and it’s time to put sandals aside. And, they’re guaranteed to be more comfy than heels! Some of my favorites include Veja, New Balance, Rag & Bone, and Adidas Sambas or Gazelles.

This might sound a little silly, but the other day I was running late to meet a girlfriend for a walk, and had less than 5 minutes to get ready. Thank goodness for these go-to Lulu leggings, this belt bag I wear EVERYWHERE, this baseball hat, and this Scuba hoodie! And, you feel cute even if you just rolled out of bed like I did 😉 A few sporty essentials are guaranteed to help you get dressed quickly.
