Here are the pro tips you need to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!
If I told you this is the 31st Nordstrom Anniversary Sale I’ve covered since I first started working there, you might wonder how old I am 😂 Needless to say, after all these years, one might say I’m a pro (wink). So, consider me your trusted source for how to navigate the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and get the best of the fall season — highly edited, on trend, and super stylish — before it’s all gone!
Right now everyone (in my world anyway) is talking about the sale: clients, friends, my Nordstrom6 girl gang, and countless other bloggers and stylists. It’s an exciting time, but there a few things I’ve learned over the years, including this all-important pro tip: make careful and thoughtful purchases!
So … don’t buy things just because they’re on sale? That’s right! Since this is an extra busy time at Nordstrom, there are many brand new, regular-priced items and collections that arrive by the minute. And, believe it or not, the good pieces fly out the door!
But first — why is this sale such a big deal? Because it’s brand new fall merchandise, offered at a discount before the season even starts, and it gets marked back up in August. This is the best of fall, and I’ve been working hard behind the scenes to show you my favorites and give you the best recommendations possible. Happy shopping! 🌟

Susie’s sale wish list
Pro tip: Try to stock up on basics during the sale, like boots, cozy sweaters, fitness items, beauty exclusives and loungewear. Also, look for a couple of special pieces you know will work with all the essentials you already own, like a great blazer and a stylish coat. Check out this new style board I made to show you my personal picks — this year my list is a little long 😉
Coats and jackets are always a top pick, and this Sam Edelman green coat was love at first site. Pro tip: a double-faced wool coat is something every closet should have, and this Max Mara one is really good! Last year, these sold out immediately. For a more casual style, this Zella lightweight puffer will also sell out quickly. Same with AllSaints leather jackets (how cool is this new studded one?). Keep in mind, they run a bit small.
This year, I’m eyeing two blazers: This L’Agence one in the prettiest shade of pink looks incredible with this gorgeous silk blouse. Also, Veronica Beard always sells out during the sale, and this tweed one looks like a designer piece.
Shoes look incredible this year, and I was so excited when I spotted my favorite L’Agence sandals on sale — now with a lower heel! The boot selection is also amazing, and this pointy toe Veronica Beard is the perfect height. Pro tip: Everyone needs a white sneaker. These by Paul Green are really comfortable, and everyone loves them.
I always review fine jewelry collections, and this Bony Levy ring and bangle are standouts. Also, you can never go wrong with a Michele watch — I’ve had mine for over ten years and still love it! Now, I’m looking for a white watch, and I really like this one.
Handbags is another category I’m excited about, and how great is this Rebecca Minkoff bag? It looks way more expensive than it is. Same with this quilted tote — it’s timeless and super stylish.
Everyone loves denim and the Paige selection is right on point. Look at these dark gray jeans in the popular Cindy fit. And, since trousers are the trending style, I added this white pair and this Vince pair to my wishlist!
Loving everything from L’Agence this year, especially this silk blouse.
Finally, beauty is another category I always recommend. This Diptyque candle set sells out every year. It’s perfect for gifts, and of course, I always gift myself and use them in my bathroom 😉

Pro tip: Don’t forget to pick up the basics
Sometimes the best-selling basics aren’t on sale, but they’re still the building blocks to every single outfit. So, even if they’re at regular price, stock up! I’m talking about the Veronica Beard Dickey jacket, a classic silk blouse, a stylish black trouser, and a black scarf. All are important pieces to have so you can put together stylish outfits!
And now, the part you’ve been waiting for … here are my best pro tips for shopping the NSale
Tip 1: Focus on the hot items that are going to sell out quickly! This is my number one strategy that’s worked for all my clients over the years. In my next post on July 10th, I’ll reveal the most popular brands and the items that sell out the fastest. Mark your calendars for this post!
Tip 2: Buy online! So much more efficient this way — avoid the crowds and get it fast. Plus, many items will not be available in store.
Tip 3: Consider paying $12 extra for two-day shipping. This bumps your order up in the queue and increases your chances of getting what you want.
Tip 4: Stock up on basics. Get your denim, leather jackets, coats, shoes, booties and makeup now!
Tip 5: Schedule a Personal Double Points Day. Earn 2x the points towards Nordstrom notes –- you’ll be glad you did 🙂
Tip 6: Know your cardholder status. This lets you know which day you can shop the sale!
Tip 7: What to do when things sell out? I always suggest putting a wrong size of the item you want in your shopping cart. Then, continue checking regularly (every day is not a bad idea). Since inventory is always changing, there’s a good chance your size will pop up!
