Hands down: Flowy trench | Black Kayla shirt | Mother denim | L’Agence sandals | Dior tote and scarf
Hands down, the top 25 products everyone loves!
Spring edition, 2023
Hi! I decided to do a little something different this week, so I asked a question on Instagram: what are your top, all-time favorite purchase(s) from So Susie? A college friend who I helped regularly in “Room 3” at Nordstrom suggested I ask everyone, and I’m so glad I did! She told me about how many things she’s purchased from me, and how much she loves everything she has bought.
In fact, over 200 of you responded in 24 hours — which is absolutely amazing! Of course, many of the same pieces kept coming up. So, these are the top 25 items, all perfect for spring, that are worth sharing with you 🙂 I try really hard to carefully select the things I talk about on the blog, and I own all 25 of these items. And, I always follow my authenticity promise: I own them or have tried them on, I’ve heard amazing reviews from multiple people, or they’re on my list and I want to try them.
Thank you all ♥️
One of the things I enjoy so so much about my job is hearing from all of you. Just yesterday, a sweet Instagram friend sent me 5 photos, and in each one, she was wearing something I’d suggested. It truly made my day! So, whether it’s a DM, text, or even in person — it’s super helpful, very fulfilling, and we love the feedback. I get some of the best blog ideas from our exchanges, so … thank you!
Keep reading for the top 25 items on So Susie. I hope you find something you love! xx
Top sellers we wear all the time
Top row: White blazer | Denim jacket | VB blazer | Gray cardigan | Rag & Bone blazer | Utility jacket
Shoes/accessories: Veja sneaker | Gigi Clozeau necklace | Bracelet | YSL puffer | Naghedi tote | Schutz sandal | Gucci sandal
Tops & pants: ATM tee | Frame blouse | Blue top | ALC dress | Norma Kamali dress | White jeans | Blue jeans | Jogger
Hands down, the best jackets & blazers
Left: Anine Bing utility jacket | Frame t-shirt | Aritizia wide-leg trousers | Sandals | YSL bag | Right: Veronica Beard blazer | Paige denim | Cami | Gold sandals Rag & Bone Slade blazer – Do you want a blazer that’s cozy like a sweater, but looks polished? Well, this is it! It has been around for a few seasons, but the black was recently re-stocked, so I decided it would be a perfect piece to wear on the plane with joggers (among other outfits, of course 😉). I have the size 4 and it fits perfectly. This was hands down the number one blazer that you all love! This blazer is the perfect transition piece, and great for cooler evenings when you’re on vacation. P.S. It’s part of the Saks sale that starts tomorrow!
Utility jacket – Hands down, another top response for casual jackets, and it’s no surprise since I feature them all the time 🙂 I just thought you might like to know that both the Anine Bing AND the 1822 $59 one are both styles we all love. If you’re curious about the difference between the two, check out this recent review I wrote in this blog post. Frame denim jacket – I just started featuring this new jacket, and I was surprised to hear how many of you love it! It’s soft, a little distressed and slightly oversized. I’m pretty sure it will be part of the Saks Friends & Family sale, which starts tomorrow. If you prefer a lower priced one, this $98 Levi’s one is really good — I just purchased it myself. And, if you prefer less distressing and a little more fitted, the L’Agence one is the way to go.Blazers, for one – We love blazers around here, and there are two that are at the top of the list. The Cinq a Sept Khloe crepe blazer is a good year-round fabric and overall a great blazer. I wear the size 2, but I’ve heard that if you have broad shoulders, you should go up a size. It’s also part of the Saks sale!
Blazers, for two – The Veronica Beard Miller Dickey jacket is also really popular, and the hidden zippers allow for many different dickey options. These jackets have a slight stretch, so they’re really comfortable, and the style is reminiscent of a designer piece. I wear the size 2 for reference, and had the sleeves shortened from the shoulder so the sleeve buttons weren’t disturbed. Color options include black and navy, now with the option for gold or silver buttons. These blazers are worth every penny!
Your Active Favorites!
Left: Spanx Air Essentials 1/2 zip | Spanx skirt | Sneakers | Straw tote | Right: Moncler puffer | Vuori joggers | Rag & Bone sneakers Varley jacket – This lightweight puffer jacket is so perfect for traveling — it takes up no room, it’s stylish and you can wear it with leggings or denim. This is another top-loved item, and while the color I was featuring is not available, this cream color is new for spring (available here and here).
Spanx Air Essentials – Talk about stylish, comfortable, perfect for errands as well as travel, the Air Essentials collection is SO GOOD! According to their website, the fabric is “lightweight, soft and ultra drapey, and designed to feel silky against your skin.” I 100% agree! While I’m writing this post in a coffee shop, I’m wearing these wide-leg pants, this ATM t-shirt with the Air Essentials crew over my shoulders, these sandals and this tote. I feel kinda cute 😉 Use code: SUSIEXSPANX for 10% off.
Vuori joggers – Hands down, another top item that everyone should own! A while back, I said run and get these if you haven’t already, and I still feel the same way. They’re easy to wear with many different jackets, and they’re perfect for looking stylish while running errands or traveling. They’re super comfortable too — everyone loves them, both guys and gals! If you like your joggers a little longer, I just discovered these by Varley.
Shoes & Handbags: top sellers
Left: Blazer | Cami | Paige denim | Gucci Horsebit sandal | Right: Elan coverup | Schutz sandals | Dior tote Gucci Horsebit sandal – This was hands down the top shoe, and if you’re up for a splurge, this sandal is stylish, comfortable and really quite chic. Wear it with denim, pants, dresses — most seasons of the year! Someone wrote me “huge splurge, no regrets.” So there you go!
Schutz Cork sandal – This might be one of the easiest styles of shoe to wear. The heel height is perfect, and the neutral color goes with everything — dresses, denim, shorts. As you can see by my photos, I wear these all the time.Sneakers – Veja and New Balance were the top favorites! I recently wrote this post about the hottest shoe trend in London — and sneakers is the trend everyone is wearing. Veja are the French girl favorite: sustainable, stylish and well priced. I wore mine (V-10’s) all over London. The New Balance sneakers keep selling out, so grab a pair when you find them!
Loewe tote – This straw bag is not like any bag – yes it’s a total splurge, but there’s something about the caramel strap and design on the bag that makes it perfect even when you’re not on vacation! I take mine traveling, and somehow squish it in my suitcase, packed with clothes. It seems to work every time. Someone else responded “obsessed”! That says it all!
YSL Toy Puffer – This has been my personal favorite all year and the one I wear most days. I was happy to hear so many of you love it too. It holds more than you might think, and the pretty gold chain detail makes it perfect for a night out, and just as good with a t-shirt and jeans. It’s a splurge, but it’s my designer pick along with the Gucci one below.
Naghedi tote – These handwoven neoprene bags are the hot item – everywhere! Just this week I noticed Saks is starting to carry them, and I added this cool orange after I shopped off my own style board I created!! The ecru color is another great neutral and has been sold out until now. Of course black is great too, and they add a nice texture to any solid outfit. Oh, they’re also well-priced! I like the St. Barths Medium size.
Gucci Marmont crossbody bag – I’m often asked what designer bag I recommend. Between the YSL camera bag, and the Gucci Marmont style – my vote is always the Gucci one. Either the bucket bag or the camera bag, I especially like the tonal ones that are new on the Gucci website – then you don’t have to worry about mixing metals!
T-shirts and blouses
Left: Veronica Beard Coralee top | Levi’s | Right: Kayla shirt | Denim | Sandals
Frame Gillian blouse – This silky feminine blouse is a big splurge, but it’s worth it if you go for black. I used to say in the Nordstrom dressing room, everyone needs a black blouse (if you look good in black of course). Most of us feel good in black, and you’ll always feel a little extra anywhere you go! On sale tomorrow at Saks.
Citizens of Humanity Kayla shirt – Oversized poplin shirts are so comfortable, and you can wear them countless ways! The Kayla shirt is a favorite, along with the Rails Arlo!ATM t-shirt –This t-shirt is a top stylist favorite! It’s arm flattering, the texture adds just a little bit of interest, and honestly it’s the best white t-shirt anywhere (in my opinion)!
Veronica Beard Coralee – The Coralee top is feminine and it’s a knit t-shirt with a cotton poplin puff sleeve. it comes in several colors, and one friend wrote in she loves it so much she has it in 3 colors! This is a good one!
Dresses & Jewelry
Left: Frame denim jacket | Norma Kamali dress | Sandals | Valentino bag | Right: Rails white top | Bracelet | Frame denim
ALC Renzo dress – Right now, this is my absolute favorite dress. It looks good on almost everyone, and it works for so many different events! I adore the black, this blush color, and of course any bright color that catches your eye. Just yesterday a dear reader sent me a photo of herself in this dress – talk about gorgeous!
Norma Kamali dress – Another versatile dress that can be worn many different ways to several types of occasions. Whether you’re wearing flat sandals or higher dressier sandals, this dress is timeless — not to mention, very well-priced. I’m wearing a size small. Gigi Clozeau beaded resin necklace – Last summer, I started wearing this necklace, and I would often get a handful of comments asking about it (even if I was talking about something else)! It might go down as the favorite necklace I’ve ever owned, and I’m so glad many of you love it too. It’s dainty, perfect for layering, and I haven’t take mine off since I got it. Brinker & Eliza heart bracelet – This is a favorite brand owned by a mother/daughter duo. Their jewelry is so fun, and the website is fantastic. I’ve been sharing this heart bracelet for a few years, and was happy to see it on the list! It’s perfect on its own, and I wear mine all throughout the year.
Top picks: Pants & sweaters
Left: Spanx blazer | Spanx Slim Straight pant | Clutch | Right: J.Crew Juliette | Denim | Sandal
Frame mini crop trouser – This cropped trouser from Frame has recently become a top seller at Nordstrom, and they can barely keep it in stock. The khaki color is new, and it’s the perfect alternative to black. I highly recommend this pant.
Spanx “Perfect Pants” – Spanx has their fit dialed in, and the Ponte fabric is slimming, holds you in just a little, and these pants are year ’round. I LOVE the new split hem ones — so chic. For something more classic, the slim straight pants are great (I wore them in this video). And, if you like a classic wide leg style, look at these. All so good!
Juliette cardigan – Another favorite of mine, and all of you as well. One person wrote “I keep adding colors!” This cardi is the perfect weight until we approach summer, then you can put it away for a few months. The camel and gray are really nice with a white tank and white jeans. Add caramel accessories, and your outfit gets instant “chic-ness!” Size down in this one — it runs big. The Juliette is hands down a big fave.
Halogen side slit cardigan – This is the perfect summer cardigan. It’s a linen blend, super easy over dresses, shorts, denim and any kind of work outfit. I’ve had mine for several years, and besides being so versatile, it’s only $69!
Denim: your top choices
Mother – The number one brand that you all love – by far! The styles vary – but the Insider someone wrote – “maybe my favorite pair of jeans ever”! Other top jeans by Mother include the Hustler, Dazzler and Weekender. Lots of these will be on sale tomorrow at Saks!
Paige – The Claudine is everyone’s favorite lately. The one we love is the slightly faded wash with a raw hem. It’s so flattering, and I’ve been wearing mine non stop. I have found them to run true to size.
Ok, I went a couple over 25 😂 These were hands down your faves and I had to share 🙂 Thank you for reading xx
