Nordstrom stylists always recommend these 10 things

Back in the pre-pandemic days, when I was working in the store as a personal stylist, one of the things I loved most was sharing ideas with my co-workers. We would always peek in each others rooms, often “borrowing” cool items from one another. It was really fun! Unfortunately, those days are long gone — but now I have my special Nordstrom6 stylist friends ♥️ And, since two of them (and their husbands) are coming to stay with me this weekend, I thought it would be a great idea to share things we always recommend — because I’m certain we’ll end up with many of the same choices!

In case you’re new around here and have no idea what the “Nordstrom6” is, let me tell you all about my girl gang! In a nutshell, we found each other during the early days of quarantine and instantly bonded. We started sharing weekly content with you all to hopefully make shopping both fun and inspiring during that challenging time. Well, two years later we’re still at it, and between daily texts and FaceTime calls, we plan our weekly content together which we post every Sunday. Check out my Instagram Reels posts here and here.

Today’s post is about 10 things we all love: we either own them, want them, or recommend them to everyone we talk to 🙂 After spending hours and hours trend shopping, trying on clothes and scouring online with these lovely ladies, I decided to compile a list of must-haves for you — I hope you like it!

P.S. We’ve got big plans around here! I’m excited to announce that I’m starting a YouTube channel, and I can hardly wait. If you want to be an early subscriber, click here to get notified when the first video is live! And, as always, thank you so much for your support ♥️

#1 We all love a good blazer!

Anthropologie blazer | Mother denim | Jimmy Choo sandals | AGOLDE tank | Michele watch

A blazer is a staple piece we all love. The versatility and styling options are endless, and it’s an easy way to look polished and cool. For a splurge, we recommend a Veronica Beard blazer like this one or this brand new one. Below you’ll find several that we all own — they work perfectly all year long. For a summer linen style, I love this one by J.Crew – so good, and this white one has been a go-to over dresses. Throw one on over a tank, a slip dress, or pair with your favorite jeans.

#2 Beautiful jewelry

No matter your budget, EVERYONE loves mixing in affordable pieces of jewelry, and there are some great options. Tennis necklaces are everywhere right now, and this Nadri one is amazing. It’s often sold out, so don’t wait on this one if you see it. This link bracelet and adjustable tennis bracelet are SO GOOD! My stylist friends agree that diamond layers are the “it” piece of jewelry to add, and they work beautifully with any necklace you have at home. We all recommend David Yurman jewelry as well, and some favorite pieces include this gorgeous ring (my Nordstrom Note splurge), this crossover ring and this adjustable necklace (see below for some other pieces we all own and love).

#3 Nordstrom brands that are stylish and affordable

Left: $69 cardigan | Right: Treasure & Bond dress

We all love the Nordstrom brand, and Treasure & Bond is probably our favorite. This $49 dress is so versatile (size up), and this new striped tank is perfect for every summer outfit. This Halogen cami and cardigan are items everyone needs, and I have written about them over and over! Finally, if you want an affordable oversized blazer, this is it! Danielle just purchased it, and I’m planning to try it on as well. If you want a stylish, trendy brand, check out Open Edit, we recommend this flowy pant.

#4 We recommend Gucci everything

Gucci sandals

As stylists, we believe in having a few key pieces you’ll wear all the time — for years to come. I know this sounds a little over the top, but investing in special Gucci items that you’ll wear often is worth every penny. I had been going back and forth on finding the perfect loafer, until it became clear: the Gucci loafer is THE one to purchase! These rubber sandals from last year are still a solid buy, and so is this Gucci sandal that a couple of my friends own. You can’t go wrong with the bucket bag, and the Marmont handbag collection is incredible. And, this camera bag is pretty much the perfect crossbody bag. Finally, the new Gucci belts with tonal hardware are so versatile … and they’re brand new!

#5 Totes are a handbag necessity

We all own totes, and some of us own multiple. Simple crossbody bags and totes are our top of the list, everyday go-to’s! Find one you love that works with everything, and I’m certain you’ll get loads of wear out of it. Trust me, they’re worth the splurge.

#6 T-shirts we swear by

Between the ATM Schoolboy tee, the Frame v-neck tee, cool-girl Anine Bing tees and graphic tees, that’s pretty much all one really needs! Graphic tees and Anine Bing tees add a little bit of interest to every outfit. And of course, be sure to get a few basics in black, white and gray — it will help pull many many outfits together.

#7 We can’t live without our denim

We ALL love our jeans, and it goes without saying, denim is the starting piece of every outfit. On a recent trip, we all agreed the Paige Cindy, Mother Hustler and Frame Mini Boot are our favorites. They fit all sizes and heights, and we all own them. We also love Fidelity Denim and we were SO lucky to have Jason, Fidelity’s Founder and Designer, join us for an entire afternoon last summer. The Jupiter is our new favorite, and Cher and Katie are really great as well. We discussed correct length, and the conclusion is that when it comes to ankle crop denim, there should be a little gap between your shoe and the jean. Sandy was wearing the Fidelity Cher, and it touched her sneaker, so we decided they need to be altered slightly – hah!

#8 Dresses, dresses and more dresses

Likely dress | Balenciaga tote | Jimmy Choo sandals

We all agree a good slip dress is a must have, and this Vince is one of the best. Since it’s cut on the bias, it’s really flattering (and somewhat forgiving). My friend Sandy wears an ATM tee under hers with sneakers, and Rose loves a Rails gauze shirt tied at the waist. The Vince slipdress also looks amazing with a denim jacket or a blazer. Add this stylish, cool classic to your closet — it’s pretty much the perfect dress! Available in black and coastal blue.

#9 Sandals & Sneakers

These days we’re all wearing sneakers and sandals. Golden Goose is a favorite sneaker, and on a recent trip, three of us wore them for our day out. But, there has been some chatter that they’re over, and that there are cooler sneakers out there. So here’s the scoop: After discussing it with top salespeople in Seattle and San Diego, the conclusion is they’re still hot and Nordstrom can barely keep them in stock! A new “it” sneaker is this Alexander McQueen, and for a clean and affordable white one, check this one out. For summer sandals, we all love this one, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they show up wearing this or this — stay tuned!

#10 Denim jackets … always recommend

We all own and constantly wear our denim jackets. Both Sandy and I own this one by L’Agence, and it’s a little bit of a splurge, but EVERYONE who tries it on falls in love! My favorite wash right now is called Brisbane. I highly recommend it. For an affordable option, look at these by Levi’s and recently Rails has a great one — look here.
