The coat edit: Every style you need this Winter!
You probably don’t know this, but my first job assignment with Nordstrom was as a coat buyer. Of course, that was a very long time ago! But the point is, ever since the beginning of my retail career, my love for coats and jackets goes deep. I don’t often say this, but one can never have too many coats and jackets!
Remember, everyone sees your jacket 😉
Keep in mind, when you’re out and about town running errands, picking up kids, attending sporting events, going out to dinner – everyone sees you in your jacket, so sometimes whatever’s underneath doesn’t really matter. Always make your coats and jackets stylish and practical, and don’t be afraid to purchase several. Trust me, you’ll wear them all!

I’ll cover everything from an affordable North Face puffer to a tweed everyday coat to a faux fur jacket (perfect over most any holiday outfit). Everyday tweed coats
Finding a tweed coat or even a plaid jacket is a nice addition to our wardrobes; look for an affordable option like the one below. I also spotted this herringbone one. Tweed, plaid and herringbone are all really easy to work into an outfit!

Classic wool coats are worthy of investment consideration — except this well-priced one by Zara (above) proves you don’t need to spend lots of money to get a cool looking coat! For other options, look at the brands Fleurette, Lauren Ralph Lauren and Zara. All gorgeous and very good quality.

I kind of think we all need a camel coat in our lives! I’ve had my eye on this Anine Bing above ever since I tried it on in LA. If camel isn’t great next to your face, try wearing a color or adding a scarf that compliments your coloring. Or, skip the scarf and go for navy or black.

Double faced wool — so luxurious
Double faced wool jackets and coats are one of those luxurious details that’s typically used in higher end brands, like Max Mara and other famous designers. But right now, there are many options and they look really expensive. This is a topic I’ve been wanting to talk about here for quite some time, and I pay extra attention when I find a good piece. A couple of months ago, while shopping in NYC, I spotted this gorgeous coat in the Reiss store (it’s also available in petite sizes) — and it’s a good one. This Theory jacket is amazing, and it’s really versatile — I’m wearing it in this photo. I also love this Max Mara wrap coat, and this style by Polo Ralph Lauren. All very very high quality.

Perfect puffer vests
Talk about the perfect jacket for when you’re in-between seasons! Layer a hoodie under for extra warmth, or try a warmer coat over it. Either way, you can’t go wrong with a puffer vest. I love love love this Moncler (for a more affordable option, look here), and I also really like this vegan leather one.
