My Stylist friends always wear these 8 things!

My stylist friends always wear these 8 things!

I recently returned from a fun work trip in LA where I met up with two of my Nordstrom stylist friends, Sandy and Danielle. We had a great time together and did lots of blog research, including trend shopping, meeting with industry friends, scouring online, and exchanging ideas. Danielle made it clear we were to dress up for our meetings — “LA chic” she called it  — so we obliged 🙂 Since we shared a room, we discovered a few things about each other: for example, we all love our leopard pj’s, we can’t wait to get out of work clothes at the end of the day, Sandy uses her Chanel eyeshadow quad for hiding gray, we all love our beauty products, and we all need a good strong coffee to get going in the morning — especially Danielle!

Today’s post is about 8 things we all love: we either own them, want them, or recommend them to everyone. Of course, it always comes down to what we’re wearing! And, since our hotel was amazing and buzzing with excitement, I’m sharing a little about that as well. It just so happened that American Idol was casting and filming at the hotel, so everywhere we went, there were competitors, film crews and coaches singing and rehearsing. So fun to get a behind the scenes peek! It all made for an incredible four days. Thank you to the One West Hollywood and to my two lovely, talented friends!

P.S. If you’re new around here and want to stay up to date on all things stylish and the bound-to-sell-out items we ALL need, then subscribe here and never miss a post! You can check out my Instagram here and Reels videos here.

#1 My stylist friends and I LOVE black

Vince sweater | Frame coated denim and here | Schutz sandals | YSL puffer bag, here and here

Black is pretty much everyone’s staple. Whether it’s the VB blazer I wear all the time, Danielle’s leather jacket or Sandy’s Frame trouser pants, black always works and it’s a way to dress up without trying too hard. All three of us own the Vince slipdress, it’s a good one! Here are a few other pieces we LOVE.

#2 Jewelry: more is more

Left: Bony Levy gold hoop earrings | Link necklace | Butterfly | Diamond layer | Gold necklace | Right: The Last Line

Visiting the Bony Levy offices and meeting everyone that lovingly touches every piece of jewelry, including Bony himself (see photo below), was an amazing experience! We walked through the entire process regarding what goes into each piece, and let’s just say — it’s over the top when it comes to quality and detail. Bony Levy is a Nordstrom exclusive, and any item can be special ordered in the metal you choose.

Style tips: The trend in ring layering is going across your hand — that is, rings on several fingers. Try layering necklaces using one chain link and one pendant, and mixing dainty and chunky. Adding a diamond layer to your necklace stack takes everything to a whole new level (it doesn’t need to be real – I’m eyeing this one)!

Bony top sellersOfira chain link necklace, Audrey tennis brackets, everyday necklaces like this and this, and huggie earrings like this Audrey one and these hoops. Look for sets like this, they’re perfect for gifting.

#3 Designer bags

Theory flowy trench jacket | Anine Bing tee | Mother denim, similar | Sandals | Balenciaga crossbody

All three of us love a good designer bag, and in our eyes, it elevates every single outfit. Not everyone is willing to part with $$$ to splurge on a high ticket item, but the cost per wear is worth it. Sandy was carrying this Burberry style everywhere — the color is amazing. Danielle wore her timeless Chanel, and I wore this YSL one all weekend … and many of you have asked about it. It’s probably one of the best bags I’ve purchased all year! Soft, easy to close with one hand,  and holds more than you’d expect.

#4 Denim all day, every day!

Madewell cardigan | Madewell tank | Mother denim | Loewe bag | Jimmy Choo sandals | Poppy Finch necklace

On day one, all three of us wore our Mother Hustler denim in a dark wash! So funny, since we obviously didn’t plan that. On day two, since we were visiting Fidelity denim, we pulled out our Fidelity favorites. Danielle and I wore the Cher fit — a great slim straight leg. Sandy wore the Katie, which is a long flare and very flattering!

#5 Athleisure

Susan Feldman, Get In the Groove | Sandy | Me | Danielle the photographer 🙂

On day three, we met Susan Feldman for breakfast at Sunset Tower. What a lovely spot overlooking a gorgeous pool with the LA skyline in the background! It was fun to meet in person and share ideas about how to dress confident, stylish women. Since Susan said anything goes in LA, we all went casual! Black leggings or joggers, cool sneakers and our crossbody bags.

#6 White tees

Our all-time favorite white tees are the ATM Schoolboy or the Frame v-neck. Both are amazing and I highly recommend!

#7 Third pieces: blazers, jackets, and leather

Good American belted jacket | Sandals | Michael Stars knit dress | Balenciaga crossbody

Ask any stylist and you’ll likely hear about “third” pieces — the ones that make every outfit complete. Favorites include Veronica Beard blazers like this and this. Sandy and I both purchased this blazer and this faux leather hoodie. and a soft leather jacket like this Madewell one.

#8 Our pj/lingerie must-haves

We ALL brought leopard pj’s! You would think we did some outfit planning, but I can assure you, we didn’t 😉 Sandy and I both wore these and Danielle wore a shorts set, similar to this.
