10 Wardrobe staples I swear by — Who What Wear edition!

Last week, I worked on another article with Who What Wear called “I’m a Former Nordstrom Buyer With A Lot of Clothes – I Wear These Items The Most.” It’s so cool that Who What Wear continues to feature women over 50, and I’m honored to be one of them! Age doesn’t matter when it comes to style — and WWW is at the forefront of this effort. We all want to look and feel good, no matter how *young* we are 😉

The back story on this bucket list opportunity goes like this: last year, during the second week of lockdown, I received an email from Kat Collings (Editor-in-Chief of WWW) asking me to do a “test” article. As you might imagine, I was beside myself with excitement! I’ve since worked on 14 articles with Bobby Schuessler, the Senior Market Editor, and this month he wanted me to focus on the wardrobe staples I wear all the time — and 7 is the number we came up with. But I did have a hard time narrowing it down, so in addition to the 7, I’ve added 3 more and written about them all below. I hope you like it!

#1 Easy Shirtdress

A shirtdress is my go-to for an easy, effortless outfit. It looks good with almost any shoe, and it’s kind of the perfect dress for right now. There are so many good ones — see below for my recent picks! Some of the best are by J.Crew, Frank & Eileen, and Veronica Beard.

#2 Slide Sandals

When the weather brightens up, I wear slide sandals almost every single day. Easy to pair with denim, dresses, and even joggers. These Schutz sandals are favorites and look good with everything, and for a splurge shoe I highly recommend the Dior Dway slide sandal, they’re super stylish and pretty too!

#3 Classic Trench coat

On cooler days, try your favorite white tee and faded, worn-in jeans, with a classic trench. It looks a little more polished for running around town. I love this J.Crew one, this Club Monaco plaid one (wrote about it here) and this one by Mango. Try one this season, because not only are they practical, they’re super stylish too!

#4 Tank Tops

A good tank is a staple that everyone should own. It layers nicely under any jacket, and when the weather warms up, you can wear it on its own. I probably throw this one on several times a week — not kidding!

#5 Crispy White denim

White denim is on serious rotation right now. I’m especially loving a higher-rise straight-leg jean like the Mother one I’m wearing.

#6 Pretty white tops

Pretty white tops are a nice option to a basic tee. I especially love the puff-sleeve details — I get compliments every time!

#7 Faux leather

#8 Utility jacket

The staple pretty much everyone should own. Versatile, good for most seasons, and a cool vibe. What more could you ask for? This one above is being re-stocked any day, and I’ll be sharing on my IG stories when it’s available. It’s so good and only $59!

#9 Popular Joggers

Madewell denim jacket | Vuori Jogger | Veja sneaker

I can’t imagine how I ever survived without joggers. I wear them all year long, several times a week! The Vuori Jogger is a favorite, and the only one Itrust me on this one!

#10 Must-have Crossbody bag

Consider bags to be the finishing touch to every outfit! Crossbody bags are super versatile, and they give you a hands-free option which is so convenient these days!
