The 3 “trend” items that make the best fall outfits!
I think we can all agree that style isn’t about age. Now more than ever, I believe that to be true! I’ve written about it many times, because after helping thousands of women of all ages in the dressing room, I’ve seen first hand that we all tend to love similar items. Even my 23 year old daughter helps herself to my closet, further proving that yes, they’re just clothes — but it’s all about how we style them!
This week, my good friend and experienced stylist Jennifer Sattler of Closet Choreography and I decided to share how we style 3 trend items. The coolest part is seeing how a 40-something and 50-something can wear the same things, yet style them differently. Check out Jennifer’s blog post here. We hope you like what we picked!

#1 Shirt jacket or Shacket
Madewell shirt jacket | White sweatshirt | Mother “Looker” denim
Shirt jackets (“shackets”) are having a moment right now, and I can’t think of an easier piece to add to our wardrobes. I’ve been talking about them over and over, so sorry to sound like a broken record! I just picked up this fun yellow style above and have worn it so many times over the past week, I think I need a new one 😉 See below for outfit inspo, and remember you can easily substitute any style you fall in love with in the outfits below.

#2 Graphic tee
Anine Bing tee | Vuori joggers | Steve Madden slides
I love a good graphic tee, and this outfit-making hero piece will help you get from casual to dressed up in no time. I realize Bridget Bardot smoking might not be the message some of you want to project (!), but since my kids are older, I decided to go for it. I could literally wear this shirt every day because the gray tone goes perfectly with everything. I’ve been pretty much wearing this non-stop since purchasing it; you’ll be surprised at how easily it pairs with things you already own!

One can never have too many jackets, and this style is so versatile — you can literally wear it every day. If red is too bright, try the navy or black version, I’m positive you’ll love it! If you need extended sizes, you’ll be pleased to know this is one available. It’s one of the best pieces of the fall season!
