It’s time for a refresh! 🌸

It’s time for a refresh!

I’ve been writing a lot about fashion and style and all the great sales lately … because it’s my passion, and it doesn’t even feel like work! It’s an exciting time of year with the start of the next season and new trends beginning to emerge. But, after scouring the Nordstrom website (and other websites) daily for the past 5 weeks, I feel like it’s time for a refresh!

It happens every year. Summer starts winding down, and I start noticing a few neglected areas inside  the house, since we’ve been spending every possible minute outside! But this year is different. Everyone is home (3 kids and a husband), all working or schooling from here, with no plans of going back any time soon. I imagine many of you are in similar situations, so now more than ever, having comfortable inside spaces is super important. Keep reading for a little inspo and some ideas for easy things to add to your spaces!

Books, books and more books!

Collecting beautiful coffee table books is one of the easiest ways to add warmth to your space. They’re beautiful and allow a temporary escape and a moment of quiet. This Slim Aarons’ book briefly takes you on a trip to a mid-century home in Palm Springs, while Grey Malin’s book will have you dreaming of Italy. I tore out the pages of this John Derian book and framed them in these Pottery Barn white frames (read more here). I could go on and on about books, but below are favorites from my personal collection. Pro tip: Look for books with cool spines — large writing looks extra nice on your coffee table!

These are all my favorite things, and just looking at this board makes me happy! One can never have too many garden stools, no matter your style — they can be used many different ways. A favorite resource for this is One Kings Lane. I recently splurged on this Anthropologie mirror, but it’s a piece that will last for years to come. And this gilded accent table is SO pretty, and it works perfectly with all the white I have in my house! Etsy is a favorite source for custom made designer fabric pillows — check this seller, this one and this one. Remember the square planters I scored the other day at a going-out-of-business sale? Everyone thought I was crazy, but when they arrived, I noticed they were made in Paris by this company!

Last winter, I decided to claim an unused spot in our house and convert it into my “Instagram”office. It has been a fun process, and I’m SO glad it was mostly finished by the time we all shifted to staying at home. But this week it really came together, thanks to a new seagrass rug! I designed this room using a similar philosophy to getting dressed: the art of incorporating high and low. For example, this Anthropologie mirror was a splurge, while framing torn pages from the John Derian book saved a little money! See below for some other great finds.

Candles and pretty matchsticks

From votives to your favorite seasonals, there is something about beautiful candles that makes a house feel warm and luxurious. My personal picks are by Cire Trudon, Byredo, Jo Malone, and the French cult favorite Diptyque Baies. And don’t forget a candle wick trimmer — I thought it was a gimmick until I tried this one myself! These Cire Trudon matches are also really pretty. Try putting a candle in every room of your house, and light them in the evening. It’s magical! I’ve tried all of these below, and I know you’ll love them 🙂
